Essential tools for moms: comprehensive interpretation of breast pumps+Missing Kid(Jonathon Barker)Information

Breast pumps are used by almost every breastfeeding mother. Many expectant mothers who want to breastfeed have already stocked breast pumps early, and some expectant mothers have been tangled. Should you store them? What if you do n’t have milk? Here I want to tell you: if you want to insist on breastfeeding, confidence is very important. Don't doubt yourself from the beginning, you must have confidence in yourself! Even if there is no lactation in the third trimester, it does not mean that there will be no milk after delivery. Of course, you can also choose a breast pump that suits you after you have a baby.

▋ When do I need a breast pump?

Some novice mothers use the breast pump as a milk opening artifact. In fact, this method is wrong. It is the best way to suck the baby. The breast pump is not a breast pump. The premise of normal use is that the mother has sufficient milk and unobstructed breasts, so squeeze a few drops of milk by hand before using it.

When gaining milk:

Some mother's milk is very good, the baby can't finish eating, or the baby is not hungry, the mother's milk can't go up, so you need to suck out the milk at this time to avoid clogging and mastitis.

When carrying milk:

Many mothers need to return to the workplace during breastfeeding. At this time, the breast pump can come in handy! The milk can be sucked out and stored, and the mother can continue to breastfeed after going to work.

Special cases:

The baby is a premature baby. The mother cannot feed her baby before leaving the hospital. She can use a breast pump to suck out valuable colostrum. The colostrum composition of premature mothers and the colostrum composition of full-term mothers are somewhat different, which is more helpful to premature babies. Growth and development, so do not waste it.

The mother's nipples are flattened and invaded, the baby has difficulty in joining and has not learned to suck, or the mother's nipples are seriously injured and cannot be fed for the time being.

If the doctor advises to stop breastfeeding temporarily, for example because the mother is taking medicines that may be harmful to the baby, or needs short-term hospitalization, then during the period when the baby cannot be breastfed, the mother should use a breast pump to suck out milk and continue to maintain adequate milk production.

▋ How to choose a breast pump?

There are electric and manual breast pumps. The manual type is divided into pressing type, simple rubber ball suction mode, and syringe type. Because of the poor use of breast pumps with rubber ball suction mode, it is rare now, and syringe pumps are still available on the market. Yes, but it is not the mainstream, most of the manual breast pumps currently on the market are push type. The simple division of electric type can be divided into the single pump and double pump, that is, unilateral electric breast pump and bilateral electric breast pump. In terms of functions, there may be whether it can stimulate the milk array, whether there is a design against backflow, and so on.

Manual breast pump: Breast pumping is not very frequent, and occasionally a manual pump is more affordable.

Electric breast pump: If there is more milk and the breast pump is more frequent, then electric is more suitable. Electric breast pumps are divided into unilateral electric breast pumps and bilateral electric breast pumps, which are basically unilateral, but bilateral breast pumps can save breast pumping time to the greatest extent. Many have used unilateral electric breast pumps. Mothers think it's better and more convenient to buy a bilateral.

How to save sucked milk

Store at room temperature:

Colostrum (milk squeezed out within 6 days after delivery): 27-32 degrees Celsius for 12 hours at room temperature

Mature breast milk (milk extruded after 6 days after delivery): 15 hours at room temperature for 24 hours; 19-22 degrees at room temperature for 10 hours; 25 degrees at room temperature for 6 hours

Refrigerator-freezer storage:

0- 4 degrees Celsius for 8 days

Cryopreservation:

The cryopreservation of breast milk is related to the condition of the freezer:

If it is a small freezer box inside the refrigerator, the shelf life is two weeks;

If it is a freezer compartment separate from the refrigerator compartment, but often open and close the door to pick up items, the storage period is 3-4 months

If it is a deep freezer, the temperature is kept below 0 degrees, and the door is not opened often, the storage period is more than 6 months.

How to feed the sucked milk to your baby

It is best to use frozen, well-sealed plastic products for breast milk freezing, followed by glass products, and it is best not to use metal products, because the active factors in breast milk will adhere to glass or metal, thereby reducing the nutrition of breast milk.

When refrigerated breast milk needs to be warmed, it should be flushed with warm running water for several minutes to reach room temperature. Do not heat it directly on the fire or in a microwave oven, because the temperature is too high and the nutrients are destroyed.

When thawing frozen breast milk, first thaw naturally in the refrigerator freezer overnight. If it is too late, put it in flowing cold water, and then add hot water one by one until it melts to the same temperature as the room temperature. Thawed breast milk must be consumed within 24 hours, and cannot be frozen again.

After the frozen milk or frozen milk is melted, it can be fed directly to the baby by warming the milk with warm water to 37 and 38 degrees. If the temperature is too high, the baby may be burned.

The stored breast milk will decompose, and it may look a little blue, yellow, or brown in color. This is normal, and mothers can rest assured that they can eat it for their babies.
